Dvele Junior ADU Conversion: The Pasadena Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Dvele-compatible junior ADU conversion components in Pasadena, with most replacements running $1,800 to $4,600 installed depending on what failed and which Dvele model you’re working with. Most jobs are done same-day once we confirm the part spec. What owners usually notice first is a wall panel seam that’s opened up, a window or door that no longer closes square, or an HVAC cassette that’s cycling but not moving air the way it did when the unit was new. Dvele builds a tight envelope, which means when one component drifts out of tolerance, you feel it fast.
Fielding ADU Pasadena is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Dvele. We stock the parts and we know the platform.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele’s junior ADUs ship as factory-built modules, which means the conversion components – the marriage-wall connectors, the utility chase fittings, the perimeter trim system – are spec’d to the module, not to a generic site-built frame. In practice, that means a junior ADU conversion part for a Dvele Series 1 module won’t necessarily seat correctly on a Series 2 module even if the rough dimensions look close. The mounting geometry changed between production runs.
To identify your part, look for the Dvele serial plate on the interior of the electrical panel door or on the module’s steel chassis rail. The serial will tell you the production batch, and that batch tells us which connector spec and which trim profile your unit was built with. If the plate is worn or painted over, we measure the chase opening and the panel gap before ordering anything. Aftermarket equivalents exist for some trim and connector parts, but for anything load-bearing or weather-sealing at the marriage line, we use Dvele OEM parts. The savings on aftermarket aren’t worth a failed weather seal in a Pasadena monsoon season, and the OEM parts are still available for both series.
Signs Your Dvele Junior ADU Conversion Is Failing
- A visible gap opening at the marriage line. This is the seam where two factory modules join. If you can see daylight or feel a draft there, the connector hardware has shifted or a seal has compressive set. That gap will keep growing through the next thermal cycle.
- A door or window that suddenly binds or won’t latch. On a Dvele module, doors and windows are set into steel-reinforced openings. When one starts binding, the issue is rarely the door itself. The module has settled out of level and the opening is now racked.
- Condensation or staining at the ceiling edge where the module meets the collar beam. That’s the vapor seal at the chase opening failing. In Pasadena’s dry-then-rainy cycle, a small gap lets moisture in during winter rains and traps it inside the assembly during summer heat.
- The mini-split cassette runs but air comes out weak or warm. Dvele’s HVAC chases run through the module, not outside it. A kinked flex duct or a dislodged damper inside the chase presents exactly like a refrigerant problem, but it’s often just the conversion connection that failed.
- You hear a metallic tick or pop when the unit heats up in direct sun. That’s the aluminum trim channel expanding against the steel module frame. Normal on day one, a problem if it started recently. It means a fastener has backed out and the trim is now moving independently.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Pasadena work, the installed price for a Dvele junior ADU conversion component replacement generally breaks down like this:
- Trim and seal replacement at the marriage line: $1,800 to $2,600
- Connector hardware alignment plus chase sealing: $2,200 to $3,400
- Full opening re-set (door or window, including re-flashing): $2,800 to $4,600
- HVAC chase repair with duct replacement: $1,900 to $3,200
Those numbers include parts and labor. What drives the range is access – some Pasadena lots put the ADU tight against a fence line, and that means working from scaffolding instead of a ladder – and whether the failed part is single-sourced OEM or has a qualified equivalent. You get a written price before any work starts, and that price doesn’t change when we’re on site. The Garrison Standard covers workmanship for 365 days. If something fails inside that year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
For a Dvele junior ADU conversion component, you can do the inspection yourself. Walk the marriage line inside and out. Check for gaps, run your hand along the trim channel for loose fasteners, look at the ceiling edges for staining, and note which doors or windows bind and when. That gives us real information before we arrive.
What you shouldn’t do is loosen or re-torque the connector hardware. The module-to-module connectors on a Dvele are tensioned to the unit’s design spec, and loosening the wrong bolt can release pressure on the weather seal and make a small problem much larger. Same for cutting into the chase to look at the duct; you’re dealing with a steel-reinforced module assembly, and making a bad cut means replacing a panel, not patching drywall. If you’re seeing any of the symptoms above, call (626) 657-5541 and we’ll schedule a site visit. The inspection is straightforward, and the fix is usually same-day once the part is confirmed.
FAQs

Expect 10 to 15 years from the seals and trim before Pasadena sun and seasonal rain start breaking them down. The connector hardware itself should last the life of the unit; what fails first is always the weather-facing material.
Sometimes. A loosened fastener or a compressed seal can often be corrected in place. If the trim channel is deformed or the connector shows corrosion, replacement is the honest call. Call (626) 657-5541 and we’ll tell you which one applies before quoting.
Most Dvele junior ADU conversion replacements take four to six hours on site. If scaffolding is needed for tight lot access, it runs a half-day longer.
For Dvele, we stock the common trim profiles, seals, and connector hardware for both Series 1 and Series 2 modules. Uncommon parts are ordered direct from Dvele and typically arrive within five business days. Abodu and Cover owners occasionally ask the same question – we keep limited stock for those platforms as well.
Put it in writing, then do what it says. We price the work before we touch the unit, and we stand behind it for a year. If your Dvele junior ADU is showing any of the signs above, call (626) 657-5541 for a free estimate from Reed Calloway and the Fielding ADU Pasadena crew.
